Biden’s Frustration with Prosecutors’ Tardiness in Indicting Trump

President Joe Biden has publicly expressed his frustration with his own Justice Department’s federal prosecutors for their delay in indicting former President Donald Trump. Biden was concerned that if Trump was not in federal court during the 2024 election cycle, he could not be labeled a “convicted felon” by the November election while being kept off the campaign trail. This revelation contradicts the heated denials from Democrats that Biden and Democrat operatives had any involvement in the criminal and civil prosecutions against Trump.

Insider Knowledge of the Biden Administration’s Effort

Politico, known for its supposed insider knowledge of the workings of the Biden administration, reported in February that Biden “grumbled” to his aides and advisers about Attorney General Merrick Garland’s slow investigation into Trump’s election interference. It suggested that if Garland had acted sooner, a trial might have already been underway or concluded. Politico further dispelled doubts about the Biden administration’s efforts to force Trump into court before November, attributing the delay to deliberate resistance from Trump and his team.

The Smearing of Presidential Rights as “Deliberate Resistance”

Politico’s portrayal of a presidential candidate’s legal right to challenge a politically motivated indictment as “deliberate resistance” is biased. It undermines the importance of protecting individuals’ rights to defend themselves against politicized charges made by opponents’ federal attorneys months before an election.

Awareness of Presidential Displeasure and Pressure

Given that Politico publicly reported Biden’s anger at the slow pace of Trump’s prosecution six months ago, it is unlikely that his special counsel, Jack Smith, was unaware of this presidential displeasure and pressure. Smith’s denied request to speed up the indictment process raises questions about why Attorney General Garland selected such an evidently partisan figure. Smith’s previous pursuit of Republican Gov. Bob MacDonald in a politically motivated case, which was later overturned by the Supreme Court, should have raised concerns about his impartiality and competence. Furthermore, Smith’s wife’s donation to the Biden campaign fund and her involvement in producing a documentary about Michelle Obama suggest potential bias in his appointment.

White House Involvement in Prosecutions

The involvement of the White House in the federal indictments led by Jack Smith is not an isolated incident. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ lead prosecutor, Nathan Wade, met twice with the White House counsel’s office, including a meeting inside the Biden White House. Subpoenaed records indicate that Wade billed the federal government for his time spent with the White House counsel’s staff, but the nature of these meetings remains undisclosed under oath. Such consultations between a county prosecutor and the White House counsel’s office, followed by billing for knowledge, are highly unusual.

Prominent Federal Prosecutor’s Involvement

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s recent felony convictions of Trump were spearheaded by former federal prosecutor Matthew Colangelo. Colangelo is known for his Democratic Party affiliations and has served as a political consultant to the Democratic National Committee. His transition from a position in the Biden Justice Department to joining Bragg’s team raises eyebrows. It is uncommon for a local prosecutor to enlist one of the top federal attorneys to lead their case.

Biden’s Delight in Keeping Trump off the Campaign Trail

Shortly after Colangelo and Bragg convicted Trump, Biden wasted no time in labeling his rival as a “convicted felon.” It is evident that Biden is pleased with the outcome, as his former prosecutor, a left-wing judge, and a Manhattan jury’s decision may prevent Trump from campaigning. The media and Democrats should abandon the false notion of Biden’s White House neutrality and acknowledge their fear of the people’s will in November. Their actions appear to be an effort to silence voters rather than respecting their choices.
