Tom Selleck Faces Uncertain Future as “Blue Bloods” Comes to an End

Tom Selleck, the 79-year-old actor known for his role in the popular CBS crime drama “Blue Bloods,” may soon face a significant life change. After a successful career spanning decades, the show is set to end later this year, potentially leaving Selleck without the steady income he earns from it. This financial uncertainty may force him to give up his beloved 63-acre ranch in Ventura County, California.

Selleck has been open about his attachment to the ranch, which he purchased in 1988 after he left another hit show, “Magnum: PI.” Originally an avocado farm, the property suffered from a drought but has since become a passion project for Selleck as he focuses on rebuilding it. During an interview on “CBS Sunday Morning,” the reporter expressed shock at the possibility of Selleck losing his ranch. To this, the actor candidly replied, “Am I set for life? Yeah, but maybe not on a 63-acre ranch!”

Despite the potential loss of his long-time TV gig, Selleck remains determined to continue working as an actor. Reflecting on his accidental entry into the profession, he revealed that a theater class he took in college changed the course of his life. Since his first credited roles in the late 1960s, Selleck has established himself as a household name in the industry.

Looking to the future, Selleck expressed a desire for more acting opportunities even if “Blue Bloods” comes to an end. He emphasized his love for the craft and the lack of excuses in the profession. Ideally, he would like to continue working on the show and hopes that CBS will reconsider its decision to end it. Selleck highlighted the show’s success, ranking as the third-highest scripted show in all of broadcast and consistently winning its time slot.

In discussing his ranch, Selleck has emphasized its importance in his life. In an interview with People in 2020, he revealed that his relationships and the ranch keep him sane. He finds solace in doing grunt work and watching things grow, considering it a retreat from the demands of his career.

Tom Selleck’s personal life has also been a topic of interest. He married Jillie Mack in 1987 after a previous marriage to Jaqueline Ray. Together, he and Mack have a daughter named Hannah and a son named Kevin.

As Selleck faces the potential end of “Blue Bloods,” the future of both his career and his ranch remains uncertain. However, his dedication to acting and his passion for his property suggest that he will continue to find ways to thrive, regardless of the challenges he may encounter.
