Tesla Cybertruck Owners Report Issues with Corrosion and Rust
Owners of Tesla Cybertrucks, the highly anticipated electric vehicles developed with stainless steel, are experiencing concerns related to corrosion and rust. Two Cybertruck owners recently voiced their worries about their expensive trucks developing “corrosion” and “orange rust marks” shortly after purchase.
One Tesla owner shared his experience on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum, stating that he noticed the corrosion on his new vehicle after just eleven days of ownership. He documented the rust marks and brought it to Tesla’s attention, hoping to have it addressed under warranty. When he took his truck to a service facility, they confirmed that it was actual rust and not dirt specks. However, they didn’t have the necessary tools to fix the issue immediately and promised to contact him once the supplies arrived.
Another Cybertruck owner had a similar experience. After picking up his new vehicle in Dublin, California and driving it in heavy rain to Sacramento, he discovered tiny orange specks and water spots on the exterior. He also brought it to a service facility, where they confirmed the presence of rust. Like the previous owner, he was told that the trucks develop orange rust marks in the rain and require buffing out.
These reports raise concerns about the durability of the Cybertruck’s stainless-steel exoskeleton, which is advertised by Tesla as ultra-hard and resistant to dents, damage, and long-term corrosion. The monochrome exoskeleton is designed to provide superior strength and endurance, with every component engineered for these purposes.
According to Tesla’s website, the Cybertruck offers exceptional traction control and torque due to its low center of gravity, allowing for impressive acceleration and a range of up to 500 miles. The truck is also capable of handling heavy payloads and towing capacities, making it suitable for various purposes.
It is worth noting that Tesla has not yet responded to inquiries made by Fox Business about these reported issues. Therefore, it remains unclear how Tesla plans to address the concerns raised by Cybertruck owners regarding corrosion and rust.
