Yo Gotti’s Brother “Big Jook” Fatally Shot in Targeted Attack Outside Memphis Restaurant

Memphis, TN – Anthony “Big Jook” Mims, the brother of renowned rapper Yo Gotti, was tragically killed in a shooting outside Perignons Restaurant & Event Center in Memphis on Saturday. The incident, which police believe was a targeted attack, occurred around 4:15 p.m. Two men were shot during the incident, with Mims being rushed to St. Francis Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Another individual was privately transported to the same hospital and later airlifted to Regional One Health in critical condition.

Funeral Service Connection

According to TMZ, Mims had attended a funeral service for a relative earlier in the day before the shooting took place. Police Deputy Chief Paul Wright revealed that both victims were at the restaurant for a repast service.

Investigation and Suspects

As of now, no suspects have been identified, and no arrests have been made. During a press conference, Deputy Chief Wright stated that they believe the individual who was shot was specifically targeted by the suspect. The investigation is still in its preliminary stages, and no connection to the rapper has been established.

Big Jook’s Involvement in CMG the Label

Big Jook was known for his involvement in his brother’s record label, CMG the Label, also known as the Collective Media Group. He frequently appeared in music videos released by the label, primarily handling the business side of things.

Yo Gotti’s Career and Achievements

Yo Gotti, born Mario Sentell Giden Mims, rose to fame in the rap industry with his debut album “Youngsta’s On a Come Up” in 1996 under the name Lil Yo. He later changed his stage name to Yo Gotti and has since been nominated for multiple BET Hip Hop awards, including Album of the Year for “I Am” in 2014. The rapper has collaborated with notable artists such as Nicki Minaj, Lil Uzi Vert, and Kanye West.

At this time, it is unknown if Yo Gotti was present with Big Jook during the shooting, and he has not released any statements regarding his brother’s tragic death.
