Willis ISD Student and Brother Assault Basketball Coach over Benching Teen, Coach Claims

Two Arrested for Assaulting Basketball Coach at Willis High School

CONROE, Texas (KTRK) — Two people have been arrested for allegedly assaulting a basketball coach at Willis High School after a game, according to authorities.

The incident took place on December 5th at around 9:52 p.m. in the school parking lot. Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of an assault and found the coach with injuries to his head, neck, face, and arms.

Assault Following Basketball Game

The coach informed deputies that he was assaulted by multiple individuals, including a 17-year-old student named Jevin Allen, after a basketball game against Conroe High School. The coach explained that Jevin had been benched during the game due to his behavior towards an opposing team player, which upset Jevin and his family.

Upon returning to Willis High School, the coach encountered Jevin and his family waiting in the parking lot. A verbal confrontation quickly escalated, with Jevin punching the coach in the face. Jarrick Allen, Jevin’s 22-year-old brother, also joined in the assault, according to police reports.

Arrests Made After Investigation

Another coach who witnessed the assault attempted to intervene with the help of several bystanders. Once the fight was broken up, both suspects fled the scene. However, after reviewing video surveillance footage and conducting witness interviews, deputies were able to locate and apprehend both Jevin and Jarrick Allen for assault.

Following their arrest, the suspects were taken to the Montgomery County Jail. However, they have since been released after posting a $23,000 bond each.

Willis ISD Responds

In response to the incident, Willis Independent School District (ISD) issued a statement expressing their concern and commitment to addressing such behavior:

“We can confirm an incident did occur. Two individuals have been charged with assault on a public servant. The incident is still under investigation. We are deeply saddened by this incident and will not tolerate this behavior from students.”

As the investigation continues, authorities are working to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff at Willis High School.
