Video captures anti-Israel protesters verbally attacking Jerry Seinfeld upon his departure from NYC event

In a recent incident that took place in New York City, legendary comedian Jerry Seinfeld found himself under attack from anti-Israel protesters as he left an event at the 92nd Street Y in Manhattan. The protesters accused Seinfeld of supporting genocide, with one demonstrator even yelling, “Genocide supporter, you support genocide!” The incident was caught on video, showing Seinfeld maintaining his composure and responding with a wave before getting into his black SUV, surrounded by NYPD officers.

The small group of protesters had gathered outside the community center where Seinfeld was attending an event featuring Bari Weiss, a former New York Times columnist and founder of The Free Press. The demonstrators were critical of Weiss, a staunch supporter of Israel, and attempted to connect her to the death of Palestinian professor and poet Refaat Alareer, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza. Alareer had previously tweeted that if he were to be killed, he would blame Weiss and others like her. His tweet was in response to Weiss criticizing him for making a tasteless joke about an Israeli baby being burned alive in an oven during an attack on Israel.

It is important to note that Alareer had reportedly mocked victims of the terror attack and later expressed in a BBC interview that Palestinian resistance was “legitimate and moral.” However, the protesters outside the 92Y community center seemed determined to hold Weiss responsible for his death.

The incident involving Seinfeld is not an isolated one. Last year, actor Alec Baldwin faced similar confrontations with anti-Israel demonstrators while walking on a Manhattan street. These incidents highlight the heated tensions surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the strong emotions it evokes from both sides.

Anti-Israel protests have been a common occurrence in New York City since Hamas terrorists killed 1,200 Israelis and kidnapped hundreds more, leading to a major military campaign by Israel in Gaza. The conflict has resulted in a high number of casualties, with the Hamas-backed health ministry reporting around 30,000 Palestinian deaths and over 200 Israeli soldiers lost during the ground operation.

While the incident involving Seinfeld and the ongoing anti-Israel protests serve as reminders of the deep-rooted divisions surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, they also highlight the challenges faced by public figures who find themselves caught in the crossfire. Seinfeld, known for his comedic genius and creating the iconic sitcom that bears his name, handled the situation with grace, offering a wave despite the verbal attacks.

As tensions continue to simmer, it remains to be seen whether these incidents will lead to a deeper understanding and dialogue or further polarization. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is a complex issue with no easy solutions, and it is crucial for all sides to engage in respectful and constructive conversations in order to work towards a peaceful resolution.
