Unsolved Mystery Surrounding Fifth Friend at Chiefs Gathering Where Three Perished

Fifth Friend Comes Forward with New Details About Kansas City Chiefs Watch Party Tragedy

A fifth friend has come forward claiming he was present at the Kansas City Chiefs watch party that resulted in three men freezing to death in their pal’s backyard. The friend, who has not been named publicly, has revealed new details about the trio’s final hours.

The Watch Party

The group, which included David Harrington, 37, Ricky Johnson, 38, and Clayton McGeeney, 36, gathered at Jordan Willis’ Kansas City rental on Jan. 7 to watch their hometown team play their last regular season game, according to attorney John Picerno.

Details from the Fifth Friend

The fifth individual, who arrived at the house at about 7 p.m., left around midnight, according to his attorney, Andrew Talge. He emphasized that he was not the last person to see Harrington, Johnson, and McGeeney alive before they froze to death in Willis’ yard and went unnoticed for two days.

When the fifth friend left, the other three men were still awake and watching “Jeopardy,” indicating that the victims were alive in the early hours of Monday, Talge added.

Contradicting Statements

Talge’s version of events contradicts Picerno’s statement that Willis saw his friends out at the end of the night and then went to sleep on his couch. Picerno also claimed that Willis only received messages via Facebook Messenger and did not receive texts or calls during the two days his friends were frozen in the backyard.

However, according to Talge, his client received a text from McGeeney’s fiancée and Johnson’s mother, both expressing concern about their loved ones. Talge’s client texted Willis and Johnson but did not receive a reply.

Picerno declined to comment on the discrepancy.

Discovery of the Bodies

Harrington, Johnson, and McGeeney’s bodies were not found until Jan. 9 when McGeeney’s fiancée requested a welfare check. Willis moved out of the home less than a week after the bodies were found.

Ongoing Investigation

The Kansas City Police Department is still waiting for autopsy and toxicology results. However, Capt. Jake Becchina stated that the incident is not being investigated as a homicide.
