Plea for Answers in Unsolved Houston Murder Case

The family of Brittany Guidry, a young woman who was tragically killed outside a convenience store in southeast Houston over four years ago, is desperate for answers. During a recent press conference, Crime Stoppers provided an update on the investigation and joined Guidry’s family in urging the public to come forward with any information that could help solve the case.

Guidry’s mother, Juana Johnson, spoke emotionally about her daughter, describing her as a good person who had plans to join the Marines. Johnson lamented the loss of her daughter and pleaded for justice, stating, “Somebody snatched that from me.”

The incident occurred on April 22, 2020, just after noon. Guidry and a friend were sitting in a car outside the convenience store when they were shot. While Guidry’s friend survived, she tragically did not. The suspect description remains vague, but police believe that several individuals present at the store witnessed the shooting.

According to initial reports from the time of the incident, Guidry had gone into the store to buy milk. When she returned to the car and put it in reverse, an unidentified man dressed in black approached and opened fire. While investigators have pursued various leads over the past four years, they have yet to identify a suspect.

Detective Alex Vinogradov of the Houston Police Department emphasized that there were numerous people outside the convenience store who likely saw the suspect’s face. However, the store’s security cameras happened to be non-operational on that particular day, leaving investigators without any visual evidence.

Guidry’s grandmother, Willie May Mims, shared her heartbreak during the press conference, describing her granddaughter as an integral part of her life. Mims expressed the profound difficulty she experienced upon receiving news of Guidry’s death, stating, “The day I got that call, it was very, very hard.”

The lack of progress in the investigation has taken a toll on Guidry’s family, who are still searching for closure and justice. Johnson stressed the importance of apprehending the perpetrator, not just for her daughter but also to ensure the safety of the community. She implored anyone with information to come forward, stating, “I need justice for my daughter, and I know somebody knows something.”

Individuals who have any information regarding this case are urged to contact the Houston Police Department at 713-308-8800 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
