Trump and Haley make final case to voters in NH with 1 day remaining

Candidates Make Final Push in New Hampshire Primary

With just one day remaining until the New Hampshire primary, the Republican candidates are intensifying their campaigns in hopes of winning over undecided voters. Former U.N. Ambassador and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, in her last-minute efforts, began a series of planned stops at a VFW hall in Franklin, where she criticized former President Donald Trump. Haley emphasized the need for stability and expressed concerns about the chaos that would ensue if Trump were to be reelected.

Meanwhile, Trump was expected to appear in court in New York City for a defamation suit against him before traveling to New Hampshire for a small gathering in Laconia. He is set to take the stage in Laconia at around 9 p.m., accompanied by South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, all of whom have endorsed Trump after ending their own presidential bids. Supporters were already gathering in Laconia as early as 4 p.m., expressing their confidence in Trump’s ability to secure the nomination.

Haley faced criticism from some attendees, with one person referring to her as a “RINO” (Republican In Name Only) and suggesting she should follow Ron DeSantis’ example and withdraw from the race. However, DeSantis, the Florida governor, recently endorsed Trump despite their previous clashes.

Haley wished DeSantis well before refocusing her attention on Trump. The former president has also targeted Haley in his speeches, claiming that she would be an easy opponent for the Democrats to defeat. Trump has faced questions about his mental competency and age, with instances of him mixing up names and making confusing statements during his rallies.

Both Haley and President Joe Biden seized on these instances to question Trump’s fitness for office. Haley advocated for mental competency tests in Congress, emphasizing the importance of having decision-makers who are mentally capable and responsible for national security.

Biden also took to Twitter to criticize Trump’s mix-up of Haley and Pelosi, highlighting the stark differences between the two. Haley received an endorsement from television icon Judge Judy, who praised her poise, intelligence, and knowledge.

As the primary approaches, Haley presented the choice to voters as a clear one between more of the same or something new. She continued her campaign with scheduled events in Concord, Manchester, Windham, and Salem. Meanwhile, Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of the former president, engaged with voters in Hollis for a meet-and-greet session.

In conclusion, the Republican candidates are making their final efforts to secure support ahead of the New Hampshire primary. Haley and Trump are engaged in a back-and-forth, with both emphasizing their strengths and questioning each other’s fitness for office. The primary will ultimately determine which candidate will face President Biden in the general election.
