State Trooper and Two Others Hospitalized After Drunken Driver Strikes Police Cruiser on Route 24
WEST BRIDGEWATER, MASS. – A state trooper and two other individuals were transported to the hospital early Saturday morning following a collision involving a suspected drunken driver and a state police cruiser on Route 24 in West Bridgewater, according to officials.
Incident Details
At approximately 12:30 a.m., a trooper reported that his cruiser was struck while conducting a motor vehicle stop on Route 24 southbound, as stated by the state police. The trooper mentioned that his cruiser was pushed into him while he was outside of the vehicle, resulting in him being hit by the striking vehicle.
Injuries and Medical Treatment
All three individuals involved in the incident were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton to receive treatment for minor injuries, as confirmed by state police.
DUI Charges
The driver responsible for striking the trooper’s cruiser has been charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of liquor. However, their identity has not been disclosed at this time.
