Tragedy Strikes as SUV Collides with Boat Trailer, Killing 14-Year-Old Boy
In a devastating incident, a 14-year-old boy lost his life while two others were hospitalized when an SUV crashed into a boat trailer in Yarmouth, Massachusetts. The accident occurred on Friday afternoon when a truck towing a boat trailer pulled over due to a broken axle. As the passengers got out to inspect the issue, a Cadillac SUV traveling south on North Main Street collided with the boat trailer, leading to the individuals being struck.
According to the Yarmouth Police Department, emergency crews rushed to the scene on North Main Street, just south of Great Western Road, after receiving reports of a person pinned between the boat and the vehicle. Tragically, the teenager succumbed to his injuries, while two others were transported to Cape Cod Hospital in an unknown condition.
The driver of the Cadillac SUV remained at the scene and is cooperating with the authorities. The Yarmouth Police Department has urged the community to keep the family of the victims, as well as the first responders, in their thoughts during this difficult time.
This tragic incident has shed light on ongoing concerns regarding road safety in the area. Local residents have reported multiple accidents occurring at the same intersection, prompting the installation of a stop sign with lights. Sam Medeiros, a nearby resident, expressed his sadness and concern about the situation, stating, “There’s been several car accidents right there at that intersection. That’s why they put the stop sign with the lights right there.”
The community has been deeply affected by the loss of the young boy’s life. Neighbor David Fellows expressed his sympathy, acknowledging the unimaginable pain the victim’s family must be experiencing. He said, “It’s sad, horrible. Kid didn’t even live. It’s sickening. I don’t know how you survive that, as a father, as a grandfather, as a mother — can’t even imagine what she’s going through.”
