Tiger Woods Ends 27-Year Partnership with Nike
In a statement on social media platform X, Tiger Woods announced the end of his 27-year partnership with Nike. The superstar golfer expressed his gratitude to Nike founder Phil Knight, the company’s employees, and the incredible athletes he had the pleasure of working with.
Mark Steinberg, Woods’ agent, confirmed that the decision not to renew with Nike was a business one made by the golfer. Speculation about the breakup had been circulating for months, and Nike confirmed the news on Instagram with a tribute to Woods’ accomplishments.
Nike released a statement expressing their gratitude for the partnership and wishing Woods the best in the future. While there is no information yet about Woods’ plans for a future endorsement deal, he hinted that there would be another chapter in his career.
Some rumors have suggested that Woods may join On Running, the Swiss brand that tennis player Roger Federer joined after leaving Nike. Another potential landing spot could be golf equipment maker TaylorMade, with whom Woods has had a relationship since 2017.
Analysts do not expect a significant impact from Woods’ departure, as rumors had been circulating for months. Nike has been gradually scaling back its golf division in recent years, but Woods’ association with the brand brought significant exposure and financial success.
Over his career, Woods reportedly earned $500 million from Nike. His presence on the golf course provided the brand with millions of dollars worth of exposure. Eric Smallwood, founder of Apex Marketing, noted that Woods’ longevity and the pace of play in golf make him an even more valuable asset than basketball player LeBron James.
This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
