The “Baby Reindeer” Stalker’s Second Victim Comes Forward

The plot thickens as a second person has come forward with allegations against the “Baby Reindeer” stalker. British lawyer Laura Wray, widow of ex-Labour MP Jimmy Wray, recently gave an interview to Piers Morgan on his show “Uncensored,” where she shared her experience with the stalker. Wray expressed feeling threatened and explained that she had been the stalker’s major obsession for many years.

Wray met Fiona Harvey through work and described her as dreadful, rude to staff, inappropriate with a male member of staff, and even engaging in stalking behavior. This revelation adds to the intrigue surrounding the hit Netflix series “Baby Reindeer,” which has garnered nearly 60 million viewers in its first month.

The show, based on events from creator-star Richard Gadd’s life, follows the story of Donny, a struggling comedian who meets Martha while working as a bartender. A simple act of kindness backfires when Martha becomes an obsessed stalker, bombarding Donny with over 41,000 emails. Gadd initially stated that he didn’t want viewers to focus on identifying the real-life Martha, emphasizing that it wasn’t the point of the show.

However, viewers quickly connected Fiona Harvey to the character and she later confirmed her identity in an interview with Piers Morgan. Harvey denied stalking Gadd and expressed her horror at what he had done. She also criticized the show as misogynistic and obscene.

Laura Wray revealed in her interview with Piers Morgan that she couldn’t believe what she was seeing on the Netflix series. She firmly identified Fiona Harvey as the stalker, highlighting the striking similarities between the character and Harvey’s behavior. Wray mentioned having a file full of letters, emails, and faxes from Harvey that were all identical.

Wray also shared the impact this experience had on her mental health, admitting that it triggered anxiety and distress. She emphasized that being identified by the press before Harvey added to her distress. The cast of “Baby Reindeer” has also expressed their avoidance of watching Harvey’s interview.

Richard Gadd, the creator of “Baby Reindeer,” initially expected the show to be a small artistic gem, not a massive hit. He believes this unexpected fame may explain why Netflix didn’t take more steps to obscure identities. Netflix has remained silent on Harvey’s interview, but their UK public policy director stated that he couldn’t comment on the specifics of the show’s production.

Laura Wray disagreed with the Netflix director’s claim that Martha’s identity was obscured in the show. She mentioned considering suing Harvey, but acknowledged the challenges of pursuing reparation claims if Harvey has no money.

As the mystery surrounding the “Baby Reindeer” stalker continues, viewers are left with a captivating and unsettling story that blurs the lines between reality and fiction.
