Teen Takes Selfie with Passenger After Unbelievable Alaska Airlines Mid-Air Blowout

Teenager’s Shirt Gets Sucked Off Mid-Flight After Door Plug Flies Off

Unbelievable Ordeal

A 15-year-old passenger on an Alaska Airlines flight experienced a shocking ordeal when a door plug flew off mid-flight, causing his shirt to be sucked right off his back. Despite the chaos, the teenager managed to take a selfie with a stranger in the aftermath of the incident.

A Lucky Escape

The teenager, named Jack, was sitting in the same row as the door plug that flew off the Boeing plane at 16,000 feet. Fortunately, he was wearing his seatbelt, which likely saved him from being sucked out of the plane. Another passenger, Kelly Bartlett, who took a selfie with Jack, recounted the harrowing experience.

A Gaping Hole and Rapid Depressurization

The missing door plug left a gaping hole in the side of the plane, causing the interior to rapidly depressurize. Bartlett, who was sitting three rows ahead of Jack, heard a loud boom and witnessed oxygen masks dropping down as wind gusts filled the cabin.

A Terrifying Moment

Amidst the chaos, Jack jumped into an empty seat next to Bartlett. The loud noise made it difficult to communicate, so Bartlett typed a message on her phone asking if Jack was hurt. Jack responded that his arm was scratched but thanked Bartlett for her kindness.

A Miraculous Landing

The plane, bound for California and carrying 171 passengers and six crew members, was forced to return to Portland International Airport. The pilots and flight crew safely landed the aircraft, and there were no serious injuries reported. Passengers applauded and cheered upon touchdown.

A Unique Perspective

Despite the terrifying experience, Jack asked Bartlett for a selfie. As a 15-year-old, he saw it as a way to capture the unbelievable moment he had just gone through. After landing, Jack was reunited with his mother.

Feeling Lucky

Bartlett expressed gratitude for their fortunate outcome, acknowledging that the situation could have been much worse. She felt lucky that they were not at a higher elevation and that Jack had his seatbelt on during the incident.
