State Trooper and Two Others Hospitalized After Drunken Driver Strikes Police Cruiser
WEST BRIDGEWATER, MASS. – A state trooper and two other individuals were transported to the hospital early Saturday morning following a collision involving a suspected drunken driver and a state police cruiser on Route 24 in West Bridgewater, according to officials.
Trooper’s Cruiser Struck During Motor Vehicle Stop
At approximately 12:30 a.m., a trooper reported that his cruiser was struck while conducting a motor vehicle stop on Route 24 southbound, as stated by the state police. The trooper mentioned that his cruiser was pushed into him while he was outside of the vehicle, resulting in him being hit by the offending vehicle.
Minor Injuries and Charges
All three individuals involved in the incident were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton for treatment of minor injuries, confirmed state police.
The driver responsible for striking the trooper has been identified as Ildo Wilson De Pina, a 38-year-old resident of Taunton. De Pina has been charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of liquor.
Recovery and Ongoing Investigation
All three individuals have since been released from the hospital. Further details regarding the incident were not immediately available.
