A Pennsylvania man, Andrew Sofranko, tragically lost his life in a hit-and-run accident on Christmas morning. Just hours before the incident, Sofranko had served as the best man at his father’s destination wedding in Florida. The 23-year-old was crossing an intersection in Melbourne, Florida at around 12:18 a.m. when a northbound vehicle collided with him and fled the scene.
Sofranko, a native of Handover Township, Pennsylvania, had been in Melbourne to celebrate his father and stepmother’s marriage on December 23. First responders arrived at the scene and found Sofranko with life-threatening injuries. He was immediately rushed to Holmes Regional Medical Center, located just a mile away. Tragically, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Sofranko’s father, Douglas, revealed that the physician informed him that his son likely died instantly upon impact. The grieving father expressed some solace in the fact that Andrew did not suffer any pain, but acknowledged that it did little to ease the overall devastation.
