NBA G League Player Arrested in Connection to Mysterious Disappearance of Washington Medical Assistant

An NBA G League player has been arrested by FBI agents in connection to the mysterious disappearance of a 23-year-old Washington medical assistant in Las Vegas. Chance Comanche, 27, was booked into the Sacramento County Jail after a warrant for first-degree kidnapping was issued on Friday. Comanche, who played for the Stockton Kings, a developmental affiliate of the Sacramento Kings, was released from the team shortly after his arrest.

Disappearance of Marayna Rodgers

Marayna Rodgers, a medical assistant from Washington, vanished on December 6 while on a trip to Las Vegas. She was last seen getting into a car with her friend, Sakari Harnden, 19, according to KLAS. Comanche had played a G League game in Henderson, Nevada, 15 miles from Las Vegas, the night before Rodgers was reported missing.

Arrest of Sakari Harnden

Sakari Harnden was arrested in Las Vegas on December 13 and booked into downtown Las Vegas Jail on a first-degree kidnapping charge. Court records also revealed that Harnden was arrested on a theft charge for allegedly stealing a Rolex. A criminal complaint accused Harnden of detaining Rodgers against her will and without her consent for the purpose of killing her and/or inflicting bodily harm.

Mysterious Disappearance

Rodgers’ family and friends find her disappearance mysterious, stating that she had a good job and would never leave her family or abandon her dogs. The investigation into her disappearance is ongoing.

Background of Chance Comanche

Chance Comanche, a 6’10” center, was undrafted out of the University of Arizona and had appeared in 24 games over the last two seasons with the Kings. In his 13 appearances this season, he played 321 minutes and tallied 182 points, 15 assists, and 91 rebounds. Comanche last appeared in Stockton’s 112-106 loss to Salt Lake City on December 12, scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Comanche is currently ineligible for bail and is scheduled to appear in Sacramento County Court on December 19.
