Prosecutors reveal details of Chelsea mother’s actions before 3-year-old son’s tragic death

In a tragic incident that has shocked the community of Chelsea, Massachusetts, a mother has been arrested in connection with the death of her 3-year-old son. Jennifer Prudencio, 25, is facing charges of involuntary manslaughter and reckless endangerment of a child after allegedly leaving her sick son at home with her other two children while she went out to a bar.

The details revealed by state prosecutors paint a heartbreaking picture of negligence and disregard for the well-being of a vulnerable child. Prudencio’s son, Yael Guardado-Prudencio, had a seizure disorder and hemophilia, and had been vomiting blood in the days leading up to his death. He had also suffered a recent fall during a seizure, which left a wound on his face that was not healing properly.

Despite being aware of her son’s deteriorating condition, Prudencio chose to go out to a bar in Revere, leaving him in the care of her 7-year-old and 8-year-old children. She spent the night at her boyfriend’s home in Somerville, while her 8-year-old son grew increasingly concerned about his younger brother’s well-being. He even sent a text to their mother expressing his worries, to which she replied that she would be home soon.

Tragically, when Prudencio finally returned home the next morning at 10 a.m., she found her son dead. The details of what exactly happened during the night remain unclear, but the fact that Prudencio left her sick child unattended raises serious questions about her judgement and priorities as a parent.

During her arraignment, Prudencio was ordered to be held on $100,000 bail and to have no unsupervised contact with children under 16. The judge also mandated GPS tracking upon her release and required her to surrender her passport, ensuring that she remains in Massachusetts. In the meantime, her other children have been placed in the custody of the Department of Children and Families.

This devastating incident serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible parenting and the duty to prioritize the well-being of children, especially those with special needs. The loss of Yael Guardado-Prudencio is a tragedy that could have been prevented, and it is now up to the justice system to determine the appropriate consequences for his mother’s alleged actions.

As this story continues to unfold, our thoughts are with the family and friends affected by this heartbreaking loss. May Yael Guardado-Prudencio rest in peace, and may this tragedy serve as a wake-up call for society to prioritize the protection and care of our most vulnerable members.
