Police Say Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice Involved in a Major Dallas Crash, Captured on Dash Cam Video

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is currently under investigation by the Dallas police in connection with a major car accident that occurred over the weekend. The incident took place in northeast Dallas at around 6:20 p.m. local time on Saturday. According to law enforcement officials, a vehicle believed to be registered to or leased by Rice was involved in the crash.

Details of the accident were revealed through a police call sheet obtained by the Dallas Morning News. It was reported that two drivers, one in a Chevrolet Corvette and the other in a Lamborghini, were speeding and lost control of their vehicles. The Lamborghini collided with the median wall, causing a chain reaction collision involving four other vehicles.

The occupants of both the Lamborghini and the Corvette fled the scene after the crash. Four individuals sustained minor injuries, with two of them being taken to the hospital for further treatment. It remains unclear at this time whether Rice will face charges and the extent of his involvement in the accident.

Rice, 23, hails from North Richland Hills, Texas, a suburb of Fort Worth. He played college football for SMU in Dallas before being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the second round last year. Standing at 6-foot-1, Rice was a standout player for the Chiefs during his rookie season. He finished as the team’s second-leading receiver in both receptions (79) and receiving yards (938), with seven touchdown catches. Rice also made significant contributions during the Chiefs’ successful postseason run, recording 26 catches for 262 yards and a touchdown on their way to winning their second consecutive Super Bowl championship.

As of Sunday morning, Rice had not appeared in Dallas County jail records. The investigation into the crash involving his vehicle is ongoing, and more details are expected to emerge in the coming days.

This incident comes just weeks after another member of the Kansas City Chiefs organization faced legal trouble. Patrick Mahomes Sr., the father of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, was arrested on a DWI charge in Texas. The team has yet to comment on Rice’s situation, and it remains to be seen how this will impact his future with the Chiefs.

As fans and the NFL community await further updates, it is crucial to remember the importance of responsible driving and the potential consequences that can arise from reckless behavior behind the wheel. Regardless of the outcome of the investigation, this incident serves as a reminder for athletes and individuals alike to prioritize safety on the roads.
