No serious injuries as crews put out fire at cluttered Milton home in freezing temperatures

Firefighters in Milton, Massachusetts successfully extinguished a fire early Monday morning despite freezing temperatures and a cluttered interior. The Milton Fire Department received a call around 7 a.m. reporting smoke in the area and quickly responded to the single-family home on Hillside Street. Upon arrival, crews discovered smoke pouring out of the house and found an individual who had self-evacuated and was sitting on the porch.

Milton Fire Chief Christopher Madden explained that the firefighters faced challenges due to icy conditions and the large amount of debris inside the structure. Navigating through the hallways and bedrooms was difficult due to the abundance of personal items. However, they were able to overcome these obstacles and successfully extinguish the blaze.

After putting out the fire, investigators and firefighters were seen removing scorched furniture from the building to clear paths. Unfortunately, the home was deemed a total loss, with the rear of the house destroyed and parts of the roof exposed.

At noontime, both Milton firefighters and Massachusetts State Police were present at the scene, conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire.
