NFL Alum Carl Banks Sends Strong Message to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Detractors

Former NFL Linebacker Carl Banks Supports Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s Romance

Former NFL linebacker Carl Banks is standing up against the negativity surrounding the relationship between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift. In an exclusive interview with Page Six at the Starter x MSX by Michael Strahan Super Bowl LVIII collection launch party, Banks expressed his support for the couple. He stated, “I’m not down with the negative energy. I’m loving all of what they’re doing. I’m here for it.” Banks believes that their relationship is one of the highlights of the NFL season and encourages those who have a problem with it to “cope harder.”

Swift, who is known for attending Kelce’s games, has faced criticism for being excessively shown on TV throughout the season. However, Banks defended Swift, stating that she has done nothing to warrant the backlash. He compared her presence at games to Spike Lee’s regular attendance at Knicks games, questioning why Swift should be treated differently. Despite Lee’s controversial behavior at games, he is still a fixture at Madison Square Garden.

Swift has been accused of distracting Kelce and ruining football. However, according to the New York Times, she is only shown on TV for around 25 seconds per game, which runs for more than three hours. Banks emphasized that the NFL did not invite Swift to games; it was Kelce who reached out to her and offered her a friendship bracelet. Banks sees their relationship as a beautiful story that deserves celebration from both the NFL and Swift’s fans.

Swift and Kelce’s romance began in the summer of 2023, and since then, Swift has traveled around the country to support Kelce. She even plans to rush back from a performance in Tokyo to attend the Super Bowl, which will be held in Las Vegas on February 11th.

Overall, Banks believes that the negativity surrounding Kelce and Swift’s relationship needs to be put to rest. He encourages everyone to embrace their love and enjoy the positive moments they bring to the NFL season.
