A mysterious object was recently discovered by a glamping groundskeeper in the North Carolina mountains. Justin Clontz and his co-worker stumbled upon the strange object while doing maintenance work at the Glamping Collective, a luxury campsite in Haywood County. Clontz described himself as “shocked” when he first laid eyes on the massive object covered in dense metal sheets held together by unearthly-looking bolts.
The object, which appeared to be covered in burnt carbon fiber, stood at nearly 4 feet tall and was about an inch thick. Clontz expressed his astonishment, saying, “It’s once in a lifetime you know, it don’t happen every day.” The discovery left him with numerous questions, as the surrounding area showed no signs of damage despite the burnt appearance of the object. Additionally, no one at the glamping site reported hearing any strange sounds.
Interestingly, a similar-looking charred piece of debris was found on a farmer’s field in Saskatchewan, Canada, back in February. Experts have speculated that both objects could have fallen to Earth from SpaceX’s Crew Dragon spacecraft. While SpaceX did not confirm whether the Canadian object was from their craft, ground tracking of Crew Dragon’s “trunk” re-entry in February suggests a connection to the pioneering space technology company.
Jonathan McDowell, an astronomer and astrophysicist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, suggested that areas from Tennessee through Virginia and West Virginia have the highest chances of being impact zones for debris from the Crew Dragon. However, North Carolina cannot be excluded as a potential area where the debris may have fallen.
This discovery adds to the ongoing fascination with unidentified flying objects (UFOs). In March, an airplane passenger claimed to have spotted a possible UFO above New York City while on a commercial flight. The National UFO Reporting Center recorded the states with the most UFO sightings in 2023 as California, Florida, Texas, Washington, and New York. Lincoln County, Nevada, topped the list of US counties with the most UFO sightings between 2000 and 2023.
The appearance of this mysterious object in the North Carolina mountains raises intriguing questions about the origins of such debris and its potential connection to space exploration. As more information becomes available, it will be interesting to see if experts can definitively determine the source of these enigmatic objects and shed light on their significance.
