Tomball Mother Arrested for Leaving Three Young Children Home Alone Without Heat or Food

A Tomball mother, Christina Stewart, has been arrested and charged with two counts of abandoning a child with intent to return after leaving her three children, all under the age of 10, home alone without heat or food. The incident came to light when deputies from the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office responded to a welfare check call on Elmira Street on December 19, 2023.

According to court documents, Stewart left her 8-year-old, 5-year-old, 4-year-old, and 2-year-old children unsupervised for approximately 16 hours. The 8-year-old was found attending school in soaking wet clothes. When authorities arrived at the residence, they discovered that the children had been without food and water, with no heat despite temperatures dropping to a low of 55 degrees. Additionally, a long kitchen knife was accessible to all of them.

The children were taken into the custody of a family member who arrived at the scene. Stewart was subsequently released on bond and is scheduled to appear in court on January 19, 2024.
