Mets Struggle to Score in Back-to-Back Shutout Losses to Mariners

Seattle Mariners continue to dominate the New York Mets in the first two games of their series. While the Mariners have strong pitching and potential to win the AL West, it’s still no excuse for the Mets’ lackluster performance. In the second game, Logan Gilbert of the Mariners allowed only three hits and one walk across seven innings, completely shutting down the Mets’ offense. The Mets managed to get only four hits in total, with Francisco Lindor being the only player to produce any hits. Pete Alonso, who had a strong performance in the previous series, went 0-for-4 in both games against the Mariners. The Mets’ road trip has been challenging, with losses against the Angels and Mariners. They will now rely on Luis Severino to avoid a three-game sweep.

In the second game, Sean Manaea had a rough outing, lasting only three innings and giving up three earned runs on four hits with five walks and three strikeouts. The Mariners took an early lead in the first inning, scoring three runs off Manaea. Although he struggled, Manaea managed to prevent further runs from the Mariners. The Mets’ offense was lackluster, with Lindor’s single in the first inning being the only hit until the sixth. Despite Lindor’s efforts, the Mets couldn’t capitalize on scoring opportunities, and the Mariners’ strong pitching held them off. In the seventh inning, Justin Turner’s RBI single extended the Mariners’ lead to 4-0.

Overall, the Mets’ performance in the series against the Mariners has been disappointing. They need to find a way to regain their momentum and improve their hitting against tough pitchers like Gilbert and Castillo. The road trip has been challenging, and they need to bounce back to increase their chances of securing a wild-card spot.
