Manomet Man Arrested in Connection with Father’s Homicide in Plymouth, Massachusetts

Manomet man Matthew Paluzzi, 26, has been taken into custody in Hanover and charged with the apparent homicide of his father, 73-year-old Anthony Paluzzi. The police were alerted by a 911 call from a female reporting that she found her husband bleeding from a laceration in the neck area. The caller also mentioned the presence of a large kitchen knife on the floor nearby. Despite the quick response of the police and emergency medical services, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Plymouth Police Department confirmed that this does not seem to be a random act of violence and reassured the public that there is no immediate danger to their safety. The investigation is ongoing, and a search warrant was executed at the crime scene. Crime scene investigators have taken pictures of the car belonging to the suspect and have since towed it away.

The arrest of Matthew Paluzzi was made possible due to the vigilance of a civilian who spotted the suspect’s vehicle and followed it until officers arrived to make the arrest. Witnesses reported a significant police presence during the arrest, with multiple police cars blocking the suspect’s path.

Neighbors in the Manomet neighborhood expressed shock and sorrow over the tragic incident. Lisa Caola, a neighbor of the Paluzzi family, described her heartbreak upon hearing the news. She fondly remembered Matthew as a “nice little kid,” but acknowledged that he had made some poor choices after high school.

Matthew Paluzzi is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday. The arraignment will mark the formal beginning of court proceedings against him, where the charges of murder will be presented. The court will determine whether there is sufficient evidence to proceed with a trial.

While the motive behind the alleged homicide has not been disclosed, the case highlights the devastating impact of domestic violence within families. These statistics emphasize the need for increased awareness, support, and resources to combat domestic violence and protect vulnerable individuals.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, it is crucial to seek help. Local organizations, such as shelters and hotlines, can provide assistance and guidance on how to safely escape an abusive situation.
