Manomet Man Arrested in Connection with Father’s Homicide

A tragic incident unfolded in the quiet neighborhood of Manomet, Massachusetts, as a 911 call alerted authorities to an apparent homicide. The caller, a distressed woman, discovered her husband unresponsive and bleeding from a severe neck laceration. The victim, identified as 73-year-old Anthony Paluzzi, was pronounced dead by emergency medical services at the scene.

Law enforcement swiftly launched an investigation into the shocking crime, which led them to Matthew Paluzzi, the 26-year-old son of the victim. Massachusetts State Police apprehended Matthew Paluzzi while he was driving his car on Route 139 in Hanover. He was subsequently transported to Plymouth Police Headquarters for questioning by homicide detectives. Hours later, Paluzzi was charged with murder.

Authorities emphasized that this does not appear to be a random act of violence, offering reassurance to the community that there is no further immediate danger. The Plymouth Police Department took to social media to convey this information, stating, “This does not appear to be a random act of violence, and there is no further probable danger to the public at this time.”

A search warrant was executed at the crime scene, allowing crime scene investigators to gather crucial evidence. Additionally, photographs were taken of the suspect’s vehicle, a Nissan, which was later towed away for further examination.

The arrest of Matthew Paluzzi was made possible thanks to the vigilance of a civilian who spotted the suspect’s vehicle and followed it until law enforcement could intervene. Gene Haen, the owner of a local business, witnessed the arrest and described the scene, saying, “I was at the light stopped coming south, and I saw 12 police cars and two cars sideways in the road blocking him.”

The news of Anthony Paluzzi’s untimely death has left the community in shock and heartbreak. Neighbor Lisa Caola expressed her devastation, saying, “It’s just — I want to cry. I’ve already cried. That was awful. That was the toughest part, I think. I thought he might’ve been shot.” Caola also shared some insights into Matthew Paluzzi’s background, noting that he had initially been a “nice little kid” but seemed to make unfortunate choices after leaving high school.

Matthew Paluzzi is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday, where further details regarding the case may be revealed. The investigation into the motive behind the alleged murder continues as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to the tragic incident. The community, still reeling from the loss of Anthony Paluzzi, hopes for justice to be served and for healing to begin.
