In reality, he believes that the stage was just slippery, causing him to lose his footing.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Bryan revealed his true theory behind the fall. He explained, “Everybody is reporting [about the] cellphone, but I was kind of hamming that up. I don’t think it was a cell phone. I think it was just slick.” It seems that Bryan wanted to add a touch of humor to the situation by blaming the cell phone, but in reality, he believes that the slippery stage was the true culprit.
During the concert, Bryan also joked about needing “viral moments” to promote his new song, “Love You, Miss You, Mean It.” He quipped, “Now I gotta get the bumper sticker made — ‘I busted my ass and this is my new single.'” It’s clear that Bryan has a lighthearted approach to these kinds of mishaps and knows how to make the best of them.
Interestingly, prior to the fall, Bryan had been dealing with back troubles. He explained that he had even enlisted the help of a chiropractor while in Los Angeles. The slip on the slippery stage had him worried that he may have further injured his back. “When I hit the ground, I was like, ‘Oh!’ The first thing [I thought] was, ‘Oh god, all the work I did to get my back feeling better is out!'” Bryan shared with a laugh.
This isn’t the first time that Bryan has taken a tumble on stage. Years ago, while performing in North Carolina, he came too close to the edge of the stage and fell off. Despite needing a few stitches, Bryan showed his dedication by finishing the show. It’s clear that he is a true performer who is willing to push through any obstacles that come his way.
