The 74-year-old musician shared his joy in an interview with “Entertainment Tonight,” stating that he is thrilled for the couple and that they are over the moon about the news.
Recently, Lionel was surprised to learn that Sofia and Elliot had shared a video of their intimate at-home gender reveal. He jokingly commented on their lack of secrecy, saying, “You know, there is no secret with those two. I keep saying, ‘Keep it a secret, OK?’ But yes, that’s what’s happening. I’m so happy.”
Lionel Richie is already a grandfather to daughter Nicole Richie’s two children, Harlow and Sparrow, whom she shares with her husband Joel Madden. However, Lionel prefers not to be called “grandpa” and instead opts for the endearing term “pop-pop.”
When asked about potential names for Sofia and Elliot’s baby girl, Lionel jokingly mentioned that they should avoid naming her “Lionella.” He expressed his excitement about becoming a loving “pop-pop” who spoils the child and looks forward to the laughter that comes with being a grandparent.
