Adoption of Baby Boy Surrendered at Kentucky Fire Station Finalized

Last month, a baby boy who was surrendered at a Kentucky fire station nearly two years ago was officially adopted, fulfilling the hopes and prayers of his new parents. Chris and Brittany Tyler of Louisville expressed their gratitude for the grace shown in this incredible story. The adoption was finalized just before Christmas, making it an extra special blessing for the Tyler family.

A Curious Little Guy

The Tylers described their newly adopted son, Sam, as a curious and energetic little boy. He enjoys playing with his older brothers and exploring their home. Sam brings joy and excitement to their family.

Struggling with Infertility

Prior to adopting Sam, the Tylers had already adopted two older children. They had been struggling with infertility and decided to explore adoption as an alternative way to grow their family. They discovered that adopting through foster care was a more affordable option.

A Safe Haven for Baby Sam

In May 2022, firefighters at the Louisville Fire Department found baby Sam in a baby box. The Safe Haven Law in Kentucky allows for newborns to be safely surrendered in designated locations such as fire stations. The firefighters took immediate action to ensure the baby’s safety and well-being.

A Mother’s Difficult Decision

Along with baby Sam, his biological mother left a note explaining her situation and the reasons for surrendering her child. The Tylers hold no judgment and recognize the love and care she had for her son. They plan to keep the note for Sam to have when he’s older, ensuring he knows his mother made the best decision she could.

A Part of the Fire Department Family

The Louisville Fire Department considers Sam as part of their family. They are grateful to have been involved in his story and are glad to see him thriving in his new home. The Tylers have fostered 17 children over the years and are currently in the process of adopting a fourth child, a baby girl.
