Kaapo Kakko’s Go-Ahead Goal Proves Beneficial for the Rangers

The New York Rangers had reason to celebrate on Tuesday night as Kaapo Kakko scored the go-ahead goal in their 3-1 victory over the Dallas Stars. Kakko’s fist pump after sniping the game-winning goal spoke volumes about his desire to score.

Kakko, a Finnish wing, has had a challenging fifth NHL season, spending 21 games on injured reserve and struggling to produce points. However, this goal brought a much-needed boost to his confidence. It came during four-on-four play and was a beautiful shot that beat Stars goalie Scott Wedgewood.

Kakko’s goal also tied his career-long point streak of five games, which he achieved in November 2021. Head coach Peter Laviolette praised Kakko’s recent performances, noting that he has been moving his feet, creating opportunities, and playing with attitude and edge. Laviolette believes Kakko is a driving force behind his line’s success.

Another player who showcased resilience and determination was Ryan Lindgren. Despite suffering a bruised cheekbone and narrowly avoiding a serious eye injury in a previous game against the Islanders, Lindgren returned to the ice just two days later. His right eye was swollen shut, but he persevered and played against the Stars.

Lindgren’s commitment to the game impressed Laviolette, who described him as a warrior. Although Lindgren needed 10 stitches to repair the laceration under his eye, he didn’t let it deter him. He now wears a full face shield for protection.

In other news, the Hartford Wolf Pack released Artem Anisimov from his professional tryout agreement. Anisimov was close to reaching 1,000 games in North America between the AHL and NHL.

Overall, the Rangers’ recent victory and the performances of players like Kakko and Lindgren demonstrate the team’s resilience and determination. Despite facing challenges and injuries, they continue to fight and contribute to the team’s success.
