Confirming the news to Page Six, Bon Jovi described his mother as a “force to be reckoned with” and expressed how her spirit and can-do attitude shaped their family. He added that she will be greatly missed.
In addition to Jon Bon Jovi, Carol is survived by her husband of 63 years, John Bongiovi Sr., and her sons Anthony Bongiovi and Matthew Bongiovi, along with their respective wives Nina and Desiree. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren.
Carol Bongiovi played a significant role in her son’s career as an early supporter. In fact, she even founded his eponymous fan club. Reflecting on his parents’ support, Jon Bon Jovi spoke about how incredible it was that they always stood by him, even when he launched his band in his teens. Despite coming home late at night and having to attend school early in the morning, his parents encouraged him to pursue his dream while still fulfilling his responsibilities.
Before becoming a mother, Carol had a career as a Playboy Bunny and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. It was during her time in the military that she met her husband, John. The couple raised their family in Sayreville, New Jersey, before eventually settling in Holmdel, New Jersey.
The private funeral arrangements for Carol Bongiovi are being handled by the Holmdel Funeral Home.
Aside from dealing with the loss of his mother, Jon Bon Jovi has had a busy year. His band’s Hulu docuseries, “Thank You Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story,” aired in April. During press interviews for the project, he made scandalous comments about his marriage, admitting he wasn’t a “saint” and confessing to getting “away with murder.”
In addition, two of Bon Jovi’s children made headlines for their weddings. Jesse Bongiovi tied the knot in Las Vegas in May, and Jake Bongiovi married “Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown in the same month.
