Jennifer McCabe Testifies in Karen Read Murder Trial: Cross Examination Continues

Jennifer McCabe, a key witness in the Karen Read murder trial, returned to Norfolk Superior Court for her second day of cross-examination. McCabe, along with her husband Matthew, had attended a party at the home of Brian and Nicole Albert on the night that Boston police officer John O’Keefe tragically died. The following morning, Jennifer, along with Read and another woman named Kerry Roberts, discovered O’Keefe unresponsive in a snowbank outside the Alberts’ house.

The prosecution alleges that Read, who was dating O’Keefe, deliberately ran him over with her SUV and abandoned him, leaving him for dead. Read has pleaded not guilty and her defense claims that she is being framed, suggesting that O’Keefe actually died as a result of a fight inside the Alberts’ home. The defense theory also implicates the McCabes, accusing them of participating in a cover-up after O’Keefe’s death.

During her cross-examination, the defense focused on Jennifer McCabe’s phone records, particularly calls to O’Keefe that they claim she deleted from her phone. However, Jennifer refuted these claims by pointing out that the calls were present on an extraction report for O’Keefe’s phone. The defense also questioned Jennifer about alleged efforts to coordinate stories through group texts with Matthew McCabe, Brian Albert, and Nicole Albert, who is Jennifer’s sister.

After Jennifer’s cross-examination, the prosecution is expected to call Kerry Roberts as their next witness. The defense plans to further question Jennifer regarding her cell phone records, specifically about a Google search she made regarding how long it would take for a person to die in the cold.

Alan Jackson, the defense attorney, expressed satisfaction with the day’s proceedings and felt they went “phenomenally well.” As the trial continues, details surrounding O’Keefe’s death and the events leading up to it are slowly coming to light. The court eagerly awaits further testimonies and evidence that will shed more light on this tragic case.

This trial is still ongoing, and the public is encouraged to follow the latest updates from reliable news sources for further information.
