Morse highlights that there’s a difference between a quickie and vigorous, athletic sex that lasts for hours. Depending on how long your sexual session lasts and what positions you engage in, sex can become a full-body workout that demands flexibility, strength, and endurance.

In fact, a study conducted by luxury sex toy company Lelo found that certain positions are more likely to burn the most calories. “The Butter Churner,” “Standing,” and “The Kneeling Wheelbarrow” were identified as the moves that burn the most calories for both men and women on average. So next time you want to switch up your routine, consider trying out some new positions.

Bell suggests exploring the classic Kama Sutra for inspiration on new moves. And it seems like many Americans are on board with the idea of improving their sexual endurance. According to the Peloton survey, nearly two-thirds of Americans believe it’s important to improve their sex life this spring.
