Good Samaritans Lift Car Off Trapped Pedestrian in Somerville
A heartwarming incident unfolded in Somerville, Massachusetts, when a group of good Samaritans came together to lift a car off a trapped pedestrian. The incident occurred on Thursday morning near the intersection of Broadway and McGrath Highway. According to Somerville police, the pedestrian was hit by a car while crossing Broadway, and he became trapped underneath the vehicle.
In a recently released traffic camera video, police officers can be seen moving around the car and the injured pedestrian. One of the officers, Thomas Lambert, described the urgent situation and the need for quick thinking. He mentioned that someone offered a jack, but there wasn’t enough time to use it. The only option left was to physically lift the car to free the trapped man.
Officer Lambert and his fellow officers were prepared to attempt the daunting task themselves when a group of construction workers from a nearby neighborhood rushed to their aid. Lambert described the scene as incredible, with people flying out of their work and coming across the street to help. Together, they lifted the car onto two wheels and dragged it to the side of the road, away from the injured pedestrian.
