Girl Scout Troop Returns to Towne Lake Center Following Cookie Conflict with Crumbl Cookies

In a surprising turn of events, the conflict between a Girl Scout troop and the Crumbl Cookies franchise location in Cypress has been resolved, and the troop has been welcomed back to their usual spot at the Towne Lake Center. Previously, it was reported that the troop had been asked to leave due to selling cookies too close to the Crumbl Cookies store. However, management has now clarified that the Girl Scouts are not seen as competition and are actually viewed as an asset to the community.

Jennifer Simmons, Chief Marketing Officer of the Boardwalk, explained that in previous years, Girl Scout troops would individually coordinate with stores to set up dates and times for cookie sales, which led to some miscommunication. The Towne Lake Center management was unaware of these agreements and had rules prohibiting the solicitation or sale of items that may compete with nearby businesses. However, they now acknowledge that these rules do not apply to Girl Scout cookie sales.

Roxie Walker, the managing partner for the Crumbl Cookies location in Cypress, expressed her surprise upon learning that a Girl Scout troop had been asked to leave the property. She emphasized that they believe the presence of the Girl Scouts enhances the businesses at the boardwalk and aligns with the community values of Towne Lake Center.

The boardwalk clarified that it is common for tenants to include clauses in their leases preventing the sale of competing products and enforcing a no-solicitation rule. However, they were unaware that the troops had been selling cookies at the location for several years without any issues.

To resolve the situation, Jennifer Simmons reached out to the Girl Scouts’ general counsel, aiming to rectify the miscommunication and ensure a smooth collaboration in the future. In response, a troop was seen selling cookies at the Towne Lake Center this morning.

Roxie Walker from Crumbl Cookies expressed her desire to help the troop make up for any lost sales. Crumbl Cookies will be purchasing $2,000 worth of cookies to be donated to local police, firefighters, and Camp Hope. Walker even mentioned that a few boxes might find their way into her own kitchen.

As of now, there has been no confirmation from the Girl Scouts regarding the resolution of the conflict. However, the situation seems to have been resolved amicably, with both parties recognizing the value of the Girl Scouts’ presence in the community.
