Billy Ray Cyrus has been accused of “extreme” domestic abuse by his estranged wife, Firerose, in her counter complaint to his divorce filing. According to court documents obtained by People, Firerose alleges that Cyrus exhibited unpredictable and volatile behavior that amounted to verbal, emotional, and psychological abuse. She further claims that his behavior was influenced by persistent drug use, specifically the consumption of marijuana.
In addition to the accusations of abuse, Firerose also detailed her fear and apprehension leading up to her preventative double mastectomy. She stated that she felt like she was “walking on eggshells” in their marital home as the surgery date approached. She was afraid to seek help or leave because she feared Cyrus would interfere with her surgery or recovery at home. Shockingly, Cyrus allegedly served Firerose with divorce papers less than 24 hours before her surgery.
Cyrus, however, denies these allegations made by Firerose. His representative released a statement to Page Six, claiming that Firerose is still in love with him and that she begged for him to take her back. The representative also expressed disappointment that Firerose chose to litigate their marriage in the press and defended Cyrus against the confusing and suspicious nature of her counter-complaint.
To support his claim of Firerose’s continued affection for him, Cyrus’ representative mentioned a handwritten note left by Firerose after she was required to vacate Cyrus’ residence. The note professed her love and desire to be with him. Additionally, a lengthy text message allegedly sent by Firerose to Cyrus was obtained by Page Six. In the message, she expressed her inability to live without him and referred to him as her hero.
Cyrus filed for divorce from Firerose in May, just seven months after their marriage. He cited irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct as the reasons for their separation and requested an annulment based on fraud. Recently, Cyrus requested a temporary restraining order to prevent Firerose from accessing his money. He accused her of making nearly $100,000 worth of purchases on his American Express card between May and June.
Firerose, however, argued that she has had access to Cyrus’ cards since they moved in together and that there was never a limit. She also claimed that $45,000 of the disputed amount was an accidental charge and has been refunded.
The divorce proceedings between Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose have become increasingly contentious, with both parties making serious accusations against each other. As the case unfolds, it remains to be seen how the court will assess the validity of the claims made by both sides.
