Family and Friends Gather for Funeral of National Grid Worker Killed in Waltham Crash

CAMBRIDGE, MASS. – The funeral services for Roderick Jackson, the National Grid worker who tragically lost his life in a crash in Waltham, were held on Saturday. Family members, friends, and colleagues gathered at St. Paul AME church in Cambridge to pay their respects.

A Tragic Accident

Roderick Jackson, 36, was killed last Wednesday in a worksite accident on Totten Pond Road. Waltham Police Officer Paul Tracey also lost his life in the incident. The two men were allegedly struck by a pickup truck driven by Peter Simon, 54, of New Hampshire.

A Community in Mourning

The funeral drew a large crowd, including National Grid workers, city officials, police officers, and residents. Jackson’s family described him as a loving brother and son who had been working for National Grid for three years.

Remembering Roderick Jackson

Known as “Kito” to his loved ones, Jackson was passionate about dancing, Christmas, and football. Standing at an impressive 6 feet, 5 inches tall, he was not only physically towering but also played a significant role in raising his younger siblings as a supportive figure in his single mother’s life.

Seeking Answers

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and the family plans to file a lawsuit. Their attorney, Thomas Flaws, expressed their desire for answers regarding why the alleged driver was allowed to be out in the community and how such a tragic event could have occurred.

Supporting Students in Need

In addition to pursuing legal action, Jackson’s family intends to establish a scholarship to assist students facing financial difficulties.
