FBI Investigating Attempted Assassination on Donald Trump at Florida Golf Club
In a shocking turn of events, the FBI is currently investigating what appears to be an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at his Florida golf club. The suspect, identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, fled the scene in a car but was later detained by authorities in Martin County. Routh, a self-employed affordable housing builder from Hawaii, had expressed strong support for Ukraine and had traveled to the country following Russia’s invasion. The investigation into Routh’s background has gone global, with law enforcement officials working to gather information from international partners.
During the investigation, an AK-47-style rifle with a scope, two backpacks containing ceramic tile, and a GoPro camera were recovered at the scene. The incident has raised concerns about the security of the former president, especially considering the previous assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania.
Following the incident, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced that the state would conduct its own investigation into the thwarted assassination attempt. Additionally, the congressional task force investigating the first attempt on Trump’s life has requested a briefing with the Secret Service regarding the recent incident.
In response to the incident, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have both been briefed and expressed relief that Trump is safe. Biden emphasized that there is no place for political violence in the country and directed his team to ensure the Secret Service has the necessary resources to protect the former president. Harris echoed Biden’s sentiments, condemning political violence and calling for everyone to work towards preventing further incidents.
Trump himself reassured his supporters that he was safe, stating, “There were gunshots in my vicinity, but before rumors start spiraling out of control, I wanted you to hear this first: I AM SAFE AND WELL!” He remains in good spirits, according to his running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance, and close ally, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham.
