89-Year-Old Man Killed After Tree Falls on Trailer in Hanover

Authorities have reported that an 89-year-old man, identified as Robert Horky of Hingham, was tragically killed on Monday morning in Hanover when a tree fell onto a trailer due to high winds and heavy rain. The incident occurred at 99 Industrial Way, where the tree fell outside of a workplace.

Emergency Response

Hanover police were alerted to the incident at approximately 9:45 a.m. and quickly responded to the scene. A 911 caller informed authorities that the fallen tree had trapped a man inside a small travel trailer.

Both Hanover police and firefighters arrived promptly and were able to extricate the victim from the trailer. However, Horky had suffered severe head trauma as a result of the fallen tree. He was immediately transported to South Shore Hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead.

Ongoing Investigation

The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office is currently conducting an investigation into the incident. They have highlighted the heavy rain and high wind gusts that occurred in the area before and during the tragic event.
