Upon receiving the report of a person shot, officers swiftly responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered a man and a woman inside a car, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, the man was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The woman, fortunately, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also transported to a hospital for treatment.

In Roxbury, a man was shot and killed just before 2 a.m. on Shawmut Avenue. Additionally, another shooting occurred at a Dorchester gas station, followed by three more people being shot in Jamaica Plain.

Boston Police Superintendent Felipe Colon acknowledged the heightened activity, stating, “This has been an active 24 hours, and we will continue to monitor those areas.” The police are still working to identify any connections between these incidents and determine if they are related.

As of 5 p.m., no suspect or person of interest has been named in the Mattapan shooting. As the investigation continues, it is essential for authorities to address the concerns of the community and work towards enhancing safety measures. This incident serves as a reminder that communities must collaborate with law enforcement to ensure the well-being and security of all residents.
