Emmys 2024: Eugene and Dan Levy Make History as Father-Son Hosting Team

Father and son duo Eugene Levy and Dan Levy are set to make history as the first hosting team at the Emmys. Both four-time Emmy winners, the Levys previously made history when their show, “Schitt’s Creek,” swept the comedy categories in 2020. In an interview with On The Red Carpet, Eugene shared that they hope to bring an energized and celebratory atmosphere to the show, rather than resorting to roasting or throwing people under the bus. He added, “Canadians don’t do that.” When asked about surprises planned for the show, Eugene confidently replied, “Eleven,” and Dan agreed. Eugene, who is also nominated for an Emmy this year for his show “The Reluctant Traveler,” can currently be seen in the new season of “Only Murders in the Building” on Hulu. Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short, his co-stars in the show, are among this year’s Emmy presenters.

The Emmys will also feature a special moment to honor the 50th anniversary of the classic sitcom “Happy Days.” Cast members, including Ron Howard and Henry Winkler, are expected to take the stage. Ron Howard, an Emmy winner this year for his documentary “Jim Henson Idea Man,” and Henry Winkler, who won his first Emmy in 2018 for season one of “Barry,” will be part of the tribute. This recognition comes more than 40 years after Winkler’s first nomination in 1976 for his iconic role as Arthur Fonzarelli, also known as “Fonzie” or “The Fonz,” on “Happy Days.”

The 76th Emmy Awards will be broadcast live from Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, with streaming available on Hulu the next day. The arrival coverage by “On The Red Carpet” will begin at 6 p.m. ET on ABC and can also be streamed on OnTheRedCarpet.com. The Emmys promise to be an exciting and memorable event, filled with surprises and special tributes to commemorate the best in television.
