Cher’s Son Elijah Blue Allman Objects to Conservatorship Request, Asserts Sobriety

Elijah Blue Allman, the son of Cher, is opposing his mother’s request for conservatorship, claiming that he is “clean and sober.” The 47-year-old musician filed his response to Cher’s petition in court, stating that a conservatorship is unnecessary at this time and that the proposed conservator is unfit to serve.

Struggles with Addiction

Allman acknowledged that he has struggled with addiction and made irresponsible financial decisions in the past. However, he emphasized that he is currently under the care of a doctor and attending AA meetings. He also stated that he recently passed a drug test and is willing to undergo future tests.

Capable of Managing Finances

Allman asserted that he has been clean and sober for over 90 days and is fully capable of managing the money he receives from his late father’s trust. He mentioned that he recently filed to dismiss his divorce from his estranged wife, as they are reconciling and working on their relationship now that he has found a path to sobriety.

Preference for Wife as Conservator

Allman expressed his belief that his wife should have priority to be appointed conservator, if necessary. He also made it clear that he is not comfortable with his mother serving as his conservator, despite understanding her intentions and appreciating her love and support.

Opposition to Ex Parte Application

Allman objected to Cher’s ex parte application, in which she argued for an urgent appointment as temporary conservator and claimed that her son was missing. He informed the court that he has been staying with his wife and was in Mexico for approximately two months prior to that. He also stated that his mother was aware of his whereabouts when she filed the petition.

Insufficient Time to Review Petition

Allman mentioned that he received an email regarding Cher’s request but did not recognize the sender’s address, leading him to not review the documents or understand their nature. He argued that he has not had sufficient time to review Cher’s petition and prepare an appropriate defense.

Cher believes that her son is unable to manage his finances due to his severe mental health and substance abuse issues. However, Allman maintains that he does not require his mother’s unsolicited help or support at this time, although he acknowledges that she will continue to provide love and support if needed.

In November 2022, Cher was accused of “kidnapping” Elijah from a New York City hotel room in an attempt to get him into rehab following an alleged relapse. Cher has denied these allegations.
