Dow Opens Lower as Boeing Shares Tumble, S&P 500 and Nasdaq Rise
The Dow Jones Industrial Average started the week on a downward trend, primarily due to a decline in Boeing shares following the grounding of some of its jets. However, the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq saw gains, driven by megacap stocks.
Dow Jones Industrial Average Falls at Open
At the opening bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped by 138.74 points or 0.37 percent, reaching 37,327.37.
S&P 500 Opens Higher
In contrast, the S&P 500 started the day with a positive note, rising by 6.46 points or 0.14 percent to reach 4,703.70.
Nasdaq Composite Gains at Opening Bell
The Nasdaq Composite also experienced an upward movement, gaining 40.39 points or 0.28 percent to reach 14,564.47 at the opening bell.
Despite the decline in the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite showed resilience, driven by the performance of megacap stocks.
