Disney is set to honor 14 individuals as “legends” for their significant impact on the company’s legacy. This prestigious recognition will be bestowed upon artists who have shaped Disney, including Harrison Ford, Angela Bassett, and Miley Cyrus. The induction ceremony will take place at The Honda Center in Anaheim, California, as part of the D23 fan convention.

Among the honorees is director James Cameron, known for his groundbreaking films such as “Titanic” and “Avatar.” Cameron’s innovative storytelling and visual effects have left an indelible mark on the entertainment industry. Another notable figure being recognized is iconic film composer John Williams, renowned for his unforgettable scores for films like “Star Wars” and “Indiana Jones.” Williams’ music has become synonymous with the magic of Disney.

Jamie Lee Curtis and Kelly Ripa, both familiar faces in the entertainment world, will also join the ranks of Disney Legends. Curtis, who has appeared in various Disney projects, will reprise her role in the upcoming sequel of the beloved film “Freaky Friday.” Ripa, a longtime host on ABC, will be reunited with her former co-host Ryan Seacrest as they co-host the induction ceremony.

In addition to these actors and performers, Disney will also honor six behind-the-scenes creatives who have made significant contributions to the company. This includes Colleen Atwood, an Oscar-winning costume designer, and Mark Henn, a prominent animator. These talented individuals have played a crucial role in bringing Disney’s stories to life.

The Legends honor is not limited to those in front of the camera or working on the creative side. Martha Blanding, a longtime manager at The Walt Disney Company and Disneyland, will be recognized for her dedication and contribution to the company. Joe Rohde, a former Disney Imagineer, will also be honored for his innovative designs and contributions to Disney’s theme parks.

The Disney Legends program has been in existence since 1987 and has recognized over 300 individuals, including Elton John, Steve Jobs, Betty White, Dick Van Dyke, Robert Downey Jr., and Whoopi Goldberg. These individuals have left an indelible mark on Disney’s history and have become part of the company’s rich legacy.

The induction of these new Disney Legends serves as a reminder of the company’s commitment to honoring those who have played a significant role in shaping its success. By recognizing the diverse talents and contributions of these individuals, Disney continues to celebrate its rich history and looks towards a future filled with creativity and innovation.
