Get ready to embrace the yeehaw-sance because we have discovered six promising Black Country artists that will energize your passion for “Cowboy Carter.” As we eagerly await Beyoncé’s country album, let’s explore these talented musicians who will get your yeehaw up.

First on our list is Kane Brown. Coincidentally, Brown will be playing in the New York area at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ on the same weekend that “Cowboy Carter” drops. Since his debut in 2015, Brown has made waves in the country music scene. He has co-hosted the CMT Music Awards twice and became the first black person to win Video of the Year at the ACM Awards. With his recent hit “I Can Feel It” reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart, Brown is definitely an artist to watch out for.

Next up is Mickey Guyton, a black female country artist who has made significant strides in her career. She made history by singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the Super Bowl in 2022. Guyton also made a powerful statement with her performance of “Black Like Me” at the 2021 Grammys and went on to become the first African-American woman to co-host the ACM Awards later that year. Her talent and groundbreaking achievements make her a force to be reckoned with.

The War & Treaty, a husband-wife duo consisting of Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Trotter, is another exciting addition to our list. They released their debut album, “Healing Tide,” in 2018 and achieved success with their collaboration with Zach Bryan on “Hey Driver,” which reached the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. Their talent and recognition earned them a nomination for Best New Artist at this year’s Grammys.

Rhiannon Giddens brings a unique touch to the country genre with her bluegrassy banjo skills. As a Grammy- and Pulitzer Prize-winning artist, Giddens has made a mark in the music industry. From her time with the Carolina Chocolate Drops to her solo career, she continues to sprinkle her roots-music magic and captivate audiences.

Brittney Spencer, hailed as “Nashville’s new star” by “CBS This Morning,” is another rising Black female country artist worth noting. She released her debut album, “My Stupid Life,” in January and had already performed at the CMAs before that. With her powerful vocals and soulful sound, Spencer is making waves in the country music scene.

Last but not least, we have Willie Jones, a Louisiana-born singer who brings twang to unexpected places. He country-fied Usher’s EDM smash “OMG” on his “Apple Music Sessions” EP, showcasing his unique talent. Jones is a rising star with serious twang in his bones.

As we eagerly anticipate the release of “Cowboy Carter,” let’s not forget the incredible Black artists who are making their mark in the country music industry. From Kane Brown to Mickey Guyton, The War & Treaty to Rhiannon Giddens, Brittney Spencer to Willie Jones, these artists are redefining the genre and proving that country music is for everyone.
