Oil Prices Fall as Gold Rises: Market Update

Crude Oil Prices

Benchmark U.S. crude oil for February delivery fell 33 cents to $73.56 per barrel on Friday. Brent crude for February delivery also dropped, falling 32 cents to $79.07 per barrel.

Gasoline and Heating Oil

Wholesale gasoline for January delivery saw a decrease of 3 cents, settling at $2.13 per gallon. January heating oil experienced a similar decline, dropping 4 cents to $2.66 per gallon.

Natural Gas

January natural gas, on the other hand, rose by 4 cents to $2.61 per 1,000 cubic feet.

Gold and Precious Metals

Gold for February delivery saw a significant increase of $17.80, reaching $2,069.10 per ounce. However, silver for March delivery fell 2 cents to $24.57 per ounce, and March copper dropped 1 cent to $3.91 per pound.

Currency Exchange Rates

The dollar strengthened against the Japanese yen, rising to 142.50 yen from 142.25 Japanese yen. Additionally, the euro also gained ground, rising to $1.1014 from $1.0999.
