Crude Oil Prices Fall, Gold Rises: Market Update

The benchmark U.S. crude oil for February delivery experienced a decline of 33 cents, settling at $73.89 per barrel on Thursday. Similarly, Brent crude for February delivery fell by 31 cents to $79.39 per barrel.

Gasoline and Heating Oil Prices

Wholesale gasoline prices for January delivery dropped by 4 cents, reaching $2.16 per gallon. Meanwhile, January heating oil prices fell by 1 cent, settling at $2.70 per gallon. On the other hand, January natural gas prices rose by 12 cents to $2.57 per 1,000 cubic feet.

Gold and Precious Metals

Gold prices for February delivery experienced a rise of $3.60, reaching $2,051.30 per ounce. However, silver prices for March delivery fell by 4 cents to $24.59 per ounce. In contrast, March copper prices rose by 1 cent to $3.92 per pound.

Currency Exchange Rates

The dollar weakened against the Japanese yen, falling to 142.25 yen from 143.83 Japanese yen. Conversely, the euro strengthened against the dollar, rising to $1.0999 from $1.0946.
