Crude Oil Prices Rise, Gold Falls: Market Update

The benchmark U.S. crude oil for February delivery experienced a significant increase of 78 cents, reaching $74.22 per barrel on Wednesday. Similarly, Brent crude for February delivery rose by 47 cents, settling at $79.70 per barrel.

Gasoline and Heating Oil Prices

Wholesale gasoline prices for January delivery remained unchanged at $2.20 per gallon. However, January heating oil saw a slight decrease of 1 cent, reaching $2.71 per gallon.

Natural Gas Prices

January natural gas prices experienced a decline of 5 cents, settling at $2.45 per 1,000 cubic feet.

Gold and Precious Metals

Gold prices for February delivery fell by $4.40, reaching $2,047.70 per ounce. On the other hand, silver prices for March delivery rose by 31 cents, settling at $24.63 per ounce. Additionally, March copper prices saw a minor increase of 1 cent, reaching $3.91 per pound.

Currency Exchange Rates

The dollar weakened against the Japanese yen, falling to 143.83 yen. Similarly, the euro also experienced a decline against the dollar, dropping from $1.0976 to $1.0946.
