Oil Prices Rise Slightly, Gold Falls: Market Update

Oil Prices

Benchmark U.S. crude oil for January delivery increased by 9 cents to reach $71.32 per barrel on Monday. Meanwhile, Brent crude for February delivery rose by 19 cents, reaching $76.03 per barrel.

Gasoline and Heating Oil

Wholesale gasoline for January delivery experienced a slight decrease of 1 cent, settling at $2.04 per gallon. On the other hand, January heating oil saw an increase of 3 cents, reaching $2.61 per gallon.

Natural Gas

In contrast, January natural gas witnessed a decline of 15 cents, reaching $2.43 per 1,000 cubic feet.

Gold and Silver

Gold for February delivery experienced a significant drop of $20.80, settling at $1,993.70 per ounce. Similarly, silver for March delivery fell by 22 cents to reach $23.06 per ounce. Additionally, March copper fell by 5 cents to $3.78 per pound.

Foreign Exchange Rates

The dollar strengthened against the Japanese yen, rising to 146.18 yen from 144.98 yen. The euro also saw a slight increase, rising to $1.0762 from $1.0758.
