Country Star Darius Rucker Arrested on Drug Offenses: Ex-Girlfriend Reacts with Tweets
Thursday was not a good day for country star Darius Rucker. Hours after news broke that the “Wagon Wheel” singer was arrested in Tennessee on minor drug offenses, his ex-girlfriend, comedian Kate Quigley, seemingly reacted with two less-than-empathic tweets.
Kate Quigley’s Reaction
Quigley, 42, wrote on X, the platform previously known as Twitter, “Yes. I’ve heard. All I can say is Karma.” Less than an hour later, she shared another thought, this time accompanied by a bikini selfie that captured her winking while sticking her tongue out. “Mood when u hear your d-bag ex got arrested. #Karma,” she quipped.
The Post has contacted reps for Quigley and Rucker for comment.
The Former Couple
The former couple dated for less than a year in 2020 after the Hootie and the Blowfish frontman and his estranged wife, Beth, announced they were splitting up after 20 years of marriage.
Quigley’s Previous Criticism
This isn’t the first time Quigley has publicly criticized Rucker. She also took to X when he told reporters that she was “doing great” after an accidental group overdose that killed three of her friends. “Hi Darius, Could u plz refrain from making public comments about my health or well-being since u haven’t called once to see how i’m doing & have no clue?” she wrote in September 2021. “Thanks Boo Boo!!!”
Rucker’s Statement
Rucker’s camp released a statement confirming that the pair were not dating at the time of her overdose.
Arrest and Release
Rucker, 57, was charged Thursday with two counts of simple possession/casual exchange of a controlled substance and one count of a violation of the state’s vehicle registration law. He was released on a $10,500 bond. “Darius Rucker is fully cooperating with authorities related to misdemeanor charges,” his lawyer told The Post in a statement.
